This document states the privacy practices followed by Joss Wind Power Inc. (Joss) and outlines how and why we collect, use, and disclose personal information from our stakeholders (including landowners and individuals with an interest in our projects).

Joss is committed to protecting the personal information gathered from individuals that we interact with. We are governed by the federal Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (“PIPEDA”), as well as Alberta’s Personal Information Protection Act (“PIPA”).

“Personal information” is information that can be used to identify an individual, or that can be linked to an individual. In most cases it does not include business contact information. Examples of personal information would include name, address, and other information that can be attributed to an individual (for example, any comments that a specific individual may make regarding one of our projects).

Joss will only collect, use, or disclose your personal information in the following situations:
a) When we have your consent (express or implied)
b) When otherwise required or permitted by law

Joss may collect personal information directly from individuals or it may engage third parties to collect personal information from individuals.

Among other purposes, Joss may collect, use and disclose personal information for the purposes of stakeholder consultation and Participant Involvement Programs (PIPs). At the time we obtain your consent, we will inform you of the purpose for collecting your personal information.

As part of the collection, we may also record communications with individuals regarding the project, and how concerns were resolved. These records may be disclosed to relevant regulators as part of PIP requirements. We will obtain your consent at that time to the recording of our communications and the disclosure of those communications to regulators.

Joss recognizes its obligation to protect personal information in its possession and will make reasonable arrangements to secure that personal information against unauthorized access. These measures will be reasonable in the circumstance and may include providing access to only those individuals with a need to know the information, locked doors and/or filing cabinets and other physical and electronic security measures as well as contractual measures, such as non-disclosure agreements.

Notwithstanding the other provisions in this Privacy Policy, when we provide personal information to regulators that information may become part of the public record, whether through disclosure made by regulators in the course of their regulatory activities or by way of freedom of information requests, and therefore that information will not be subject to security measures or restrictions on disclosures.

Joss does not collect any personal information from visitors to our website unless visitors choose to contact us through our online form. We may use any personal information provided, such as your name, address and email address, to provide a response. We may also use any personal information provided, such as a suggestion you may make, to make changes to our business or our plans. As well, we may forward any personal information that you provide to regulators. If you do contact us through our online form, you will be thereby agreeing to these uses unless you inform us otherwise.
